Co funded Sate Crate with 2 high school seniors in 2022( all 3 are Pakistani females)with the guiding belief: Serving with Compassion. Empowering with Care. Over the past three years, Sate Crate has been very active in the community with the help of a small group of dedicated volunteers, many of whom are high-school seniors. Our work has been sustained largely through word of mouth and the generosity of the Joplin Muslim community, along with family and friends from all over. Along the way, we’ve been grateful to collaborate with several local organizations that have supported us in meaningful ways. In 2024 MO Alliance provided fresh produce and some proteins through their Farm-to-Table grant for a period of time. We also partnered with ICNA in 2025 who generously provided fresh groceries, halal proteins, and pantry items from Kansas City once a month. Sate Crate began by serving 10 families in need. Over time, our outreach has steadily grown, and we now support an average of 25 families each month. In 2026, that number increased to 30 families, reflecting the continued growth of our mission and community impact.

Our largest grocery distributions take place during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Ramadan. During these special seasons, we focus on providing additional groceries to help families celebrate with dignity and joy.

The primary focus has been serving refugee and immigrant families. The focus has been to guide & provide them resources that help uplift and empower refugee and migrant communities, especially women. This learning directly shapes and strengthens the work we do at Sate Crate.
